Pre-conference Workshop

 Pre-conference Workshop for Young Researchers

October 21, 2024,

Time: 10 am,

Venue: Theme I (EES Board Room, ABII), Theme II (403, ABII)

 Themes:

I: Application of Analogue Modeling in Structural Geology.

II: Application of Structural Geology in Hydrocarbon Industries.

Note: In both the Pre-conference workshop and Post-conference field trip seats are limited to 50 attendees on a first come first serve basis.

Instructors : Theme I

Prof. Santanu Bose

His research aims mainly at understanding the deformation of rocks from the mesoscopic to the crustal scales and investigating large-scale tectonic processes that involve both distributed and localized deformation.

Dr. Puspendu Saha

He is an experimental structural geologist who focuses on analogue/numerical modelling..

Prof. Santanu Misra

His research aims to understand the mechanical response of composite rock systems at various deformation conditions. His work is in the micro-process of rock mechanics by high pressure and temperature experimental rock deformation.

Instructor : Theme II

Dr. Jyotirmoy Mallik,

Assoc. Prof. & Head, Department of EES

His group studies rock deformation and its application in hydrocarbon exploration, active tectonics, geomorphology and volcanism. The research group specialises in techniques like Fracture induced Electromagnetic Radiation (FEMR), Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility (AMS) and magma emplacement process, Analogue structural modelling, Reservoir modelling, Seismic interpretation, Fault seal analysis, Fracture analysis and modelling, and Pore pressure prediction.
